Fergy and I have been working on this rally/ride for ten months.  With a little luck it will all come together on April 14th in Fredericksburg, Texas.  We've planned for a 200 mile poker run through the Texas Hill Country on Friday, followed by a catered dinner, raffle  of all raffles and dance at the famous Luckenbach Dance Hall. On Saturday we have several rides planned.  One will take the riders to Del Rio, Texas, and to lunch in Ciudad Acuna, Mexico.  Two other rides will find the riders at Cooper's Bar B Que in Llano, Texas.

What a relief for this Hill Country Ride to be over.  It wore Fergy and I out.  Everything went as planned with only a few minor glitches and I think most everyone had a memorable time.  The weather was great and the roads dry.  My wife, Lizbit, drove our SUV with a trailer loaded with catalogs and the back loaded with raffle items while I led a group of three other bikers down a series of back roads and out-of-the-way state highways to Luckenbach.  We stopped for lunch at Johnny's Homecooking in Clifton, a resturant we can all recommend for the food and service.

The poker run of 208 miles went well with only a few lost souls and the Friday nite bike show, catered dinner at the  Luckenbach Dance Hall and the dance after capped the evening. Wife, Lizbit and I danced up a storm.  A real treat for both of us.  Saturday son, Kurt, and I rode about 250 miles in a loop that eventually took us to Llano, Texas, where we stopped at Cooper's Bar B Q and ate too much.   We had a blast riding back to Fredericksburg when we took the road past Enchanted Rock State Park. Kurt had never been there so that was a treat for him.  We traded bikes in Llano, him on my 1500 A and me on his Suzuki GSX750R.  I really did manage to get my legs bent back enough to hook my heels over the pegs.  I found out why riders of crotch rockets wear full face helmets when I started eating bugs and my sunglasses got  covered with bug guts.  Kurt liked riding with a back rest and highway pegs well enough that he is now thinking about moving up to a cruiser.  I found riding his bike like sitting on a toy.  I was surprised at how little effort it took to maneuver it.  The acceleration was scary but I managed to last about 25 miles before we switched back.

On Sunday we all said our goodbyes and headed  home.  We  had to load Fergy's Rogue on the trailer as he had run his rear tire down to the cords.  We rode TX 16 to Goldwaithe, cut over to Hamilton on to US 281 to Hico and then up to US 67 to home.  Stopped in Hico at a Mexican resturant for lunch.  Got home in good time.  Had a great weekend considering that most of the time I was working to make sure everything came off as planned.  I did manage to get in about 1100 miles in the three days, about 400 miles than I usually log on my trips to the Texas Hill Country, but a good weekend of riding anyway.

YEE HAAA!!!!
