WelcomeWelcome to my web site. I've been a member of VROC since June/July of 2001 when Susan and I bought a 2001 Vulcan 1500 Classic FI and a 2001 Vulcan 800 Classic. Last December, I sold Susan's 800 Classic and bought a 2004 Rogue and Susan took my 1500 FI. How I got into ridingI raced motocross when I was a kid but quit riding completely as an adult. Riding road bikes was dangerous and just wasn't for me. Susan got a wild hair and decided to get her motorcycle license. It was one of her dreams to ride with her dad who had been riding Harleys for many years. She was determined and took and passed her test. I figured I'd better do something about it so I got my license right after. Our neighbor had a Harley Sportster and he let us practice on it. We then rented Harleys a number of times and then I was hooked. I forgot how much fun riding was. Finally, Susan got to ride with her dad (click here for pictures) as she usually does what she puts her mind to. We were getting ready to buy a couple of Harleys when we began noticing other bikes on the road that looked like, sounded like, and appeared to be Harleys. They weren't. That's when we checked into the metric cruisers. I had four requirements for a bike. One, it had to have a single-pin crank. Two, it had to have a "real" gas tank rather than the under-the-seat version. Three, it had to be water cooled. And four, it had to be fuel injected. Riding a Harley in the summer in Texas is what made be decide on the third requirement. After researching all of the bikes, the only one that stood out was the Vulcan 1500 FI for me. I tried to talk Susan into the 1500 but she just felt more comfortable on the 800 Classic. So, we've been hooked ever since. Well, over five years later, I love riding. I now have my Rogue (Vulcan 2000) and love it even more than my 1500. It's a great bike, fast, comfortable, and smooth. At 2,053 CCs (125.3 CI), 108.5 HP at the rear wheel and 137 ft/lbs of torque (after Thunder Tornado air kit, PCIII, and V&H Powershots), it's definitely no slouch. I decided that if I got another bike, that I was going to pull out all the stops and do custom paint, body work, and make the bike into something different. My neighbor had a lot of custom work done on his bike and he told me he had it done at Vida Loca Customs. I loved the work they did on his bike so that's where I took my bike once finally came in. Mickey, Roger and I worked through the design and look of the bike. Mickey did the airbrushing and Roger did the body work and base and clear coating. They have a great shop in Bonham, TX and strive for perfection. I was impressed by their desire to do a good job and to do it right with no shortcuts. Needless to say, I'm extremely happy with the results. So, this is my site dedicated to my bike, my rides, and my passion as the links below will show. Enjoy! Pictures and Rides
